Abstract
The article discusses the growing importance of preparatory departments at universities specializing in training linguists, in particular, Russianists, for schools in Uzbekistan. Arguments are given that pre-university training of students in preparatory departments can solve many tasks and problems that currently exist in universities and pedagogical institutes.
