This article analyzes the life, scientific heritage and unique contribution of Guido d’Arezzo, who played an important role in the history of European musical culture. The author sheds light on how Guido d’Arezzo’s musical ideas were formed in the socio-religious environment in which he worked - the Pomposo Monastery and the city of Arezzo. In particular, the impact of his four-line notation system, the solmization method (“ut–re–mi–fa–sol–la”) and the musical treatise “Micrologus” on medieval music are analyzed in depth. The article also scientifically substantiates how the methodological approaches created by Guido d’Arezzo simplified the process of teaching music, and how this system served as the basis for musical pedagogy in subsequent centuries. This article serves as a useful resource for students and researchers studying music theory, history and pedagogy.
