This article deeply analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations, historical roots and modern significance of the concept of national education. National education is considered as a system of educating the younger generation as a comprehensively developed person, relying on factors such as the spiritual and cultural values, customs, traditions, language, religion, historical memory and awareness of national identity formed over the centuries. The article highlights the role of the main components of national education in the formation of such qualities as patriotism, national pride, moral purity, respect for cultural heritage, social activity and hard work. In addition, the role of national education is analyzed based on folk pedagogy, the ideological heritage of famous thinkers (Alisher Navoi, Ahmad Yassavi, Abdurauf Fitrat and others).
