The article discusses the history and theoretical foundations of singing and music in Khorezm. The uniqueness of the Khorezm musical style of the Bakhshi-dostanists is analyzed in the form of a prose part of the dostan, which is a story, and the poetic part is performed in the form of a song in an open voice accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. It is considered that classical music samples close to maqom paths have been known in Khorezm since ancient times and their forms that have come down to us.
