This article analyzes the problems in the process of directing and selecting young athletes to swimming. The issues of identifying talented young people in swimming, assessing their physical and psychological preparation, and forming a proper guidance system are considered. The main problems in selecting athletes are also analyzed - the lack of qualified coaches, infrastructure problems, weak medical supervision, and factors related to motivation. The results of the study are aimed at providing recommendations for improving the system of effective selection and development of young athletes.
