Cumin (Cumīnum cymīnum) is a widely distributed and anciently cultivated plant, and its seeds are used not only as food, but also in traditional and modern medicine. Cumin seeds contain many biochemical substances, including essential oils, flavonoids, vitamins, macro- and microelements. This article provides a brief review of studies conducted to analyze the chemical composition of cumin seeds, as well as their significance in modern and folk medicine.
