This article analyzes the concept of biotechnology from a linguocognitive perspective. The place of this concept in modern scientific discourse, its semantic and associative space, conceptual metaphors and terminological system are studied. The results of the analysis reveal how this concept is formed, understood and expressed in language and consciousness. The origin of the term biotechnology, the evolution of its meaning, the formation of terms and its integration into international standardization are considered. The role of expressing concepts through metaphor in scientific thinking is also highlighted, and conclusions are drawn based on the achievements of linguistics and cognitive sciences.
