This article discusses the development of pedagogical tools for the system of forming research competence of students of technological education, the design of individual directions and the content of professional activities based on the principles of professional orientation, systematicity, integration, problem-solving, modularity, and adaptation. Modeling the process of forming research competence is based on design theory.
