This article analyzes the historical roots of multigenerational families and their role in the development of society. It highlights that multigenerational families, which have been the most stable social structure for humanity since ancient times, ensure the exchange of experience between generations, the continuity of social values, and cultural heritage. The role of the mother in the matriarchal era, and the father in the patriarchal era, in the family and society, is examined. The socio-economic and cultural significance of multigenerational families is analyzed based on historical examples from ancient Mesopotamia, China, India, Greece, and other regions. The results of the study show that multigenerational families are important not only in understanding historical, but also in understanding modern socio-psychological problems.
