This article analyzes the biological properties of natural collagen, its prospects for application in regenerative medicine, surgery, cosmetology and pharmaceuticals. Collagen is the main structural protein in the body, providing strength and elasticity to tissues. The study examines the natural sources of collagen, technologies for their extraction, and issues of compatibility with the bioenvironment (biocompatibility). In recent years, biomaterials based on natural collagen obtained from animal and marine organisms have been widely used to accelerate wound healing, stimulate bone and cartilage regeneration, and create drug-carrying nanocomplexes. According to the author, the high biocompatibility and low immunogenicity of natural collagen make it a promising biomaterial in the future for the development of biologically active implants, tissue engineering, and cosmetics.
