This article discusses the biological and biochemical foundations of the photosynthesis process, its stages and its role in energy metabolism in plant cells. The content of the light and dark phases of photosynthesis, the structure of chloroplasts and the function of chlorophyll pigments are analyzed based on scientific sources. The ecological role of plants as producers in the stability of the biosphere, the impact of environmental pollution on the photosynthesis process, and the importance of bioindication and ecological monitoring are also considered.
