This study focuses on the protection of the large-flowered bellflower (Platycodon grandiflorus). The relevance of the study stems from the need to find long-term, sustainable solutions that reduce dependence on chemicals and stimulate scientific progress in biotechnology. Transgenic modification, which involves the introduction of genes responsible for the production of repellent aromatic compounds (e.g. garlic), is a promising approach to provide long-term protection of plants.
