Abstract
This thesis discusses the mechanisms of ionophores, transporters, and channel-forming agents in transporting ions across membranes. The structure, principles of action, and the effect of different types of ionophores—transporters and channel-forming ionophores—on the selectivity of biological membranes are analyzed.
