This work discusses the biological significance, distribution in nature, chemical composition, and use of chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) in folk and modern medicine. The medicinal properties of the plant's biologically active substances - inulin, vitamins, macro- and microelements, glycosides, and phenolic compounds - were analyzed. The therapeutic value of chicory in diabetes, digestive system, and liver diseases was reviewed based on scientific sources.
