The article analyzes the impact of external labor migration on child rearing, parental control, care by relatives, child socialization, and intergenerational relations from a sociological perspective. Although external migration allows for increased family income, coverage of children's education and health care costs, and improvement of housing and living conditions, long-term separation of parents can lead to a weakening of control over child rearing, weakening of emotional ties, an increase in the burden of care on relatives, and new conflicts in intergenerational relations. The article argues, based on international organizations, in particular UNICEF, IOM, World Bank, and official statistical sources of Uzbekistan, the need to support children in migrant families, maintain constant communication with parents, strengthen school-neighborhood-family cooperation, and organize targeted social services.
