This article discusses the role of neuroimaging, electroencephalography, and clinical and neurological indicators in the diagnosis of epileptic encephalopathy in children based on a literature review. Epileptic encephalopathy is a complex clinical condition in pediatric neurology that, along with seizures, negatively affects psychomotor, speech, cognitive, and social development. The article reviews the ILAE classification, the concept of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy, structural, genetic, metabolic, and perinatal etiological factors, as well as the diagnostic capabilities of MRI, NSG, and EEG examinations. The authors argue that the evaluation of neuroimaging findings in conjunction with clinical and EEG signs is important in identifying epileptogenic zones, clarifying the etiology of the disease, and individualizing treatment tactics.
